Bob Ellis Award
The St. Christopher House Community Endowment, a charitable foundation, is pleased to announce the Bob Ellis Award!
In 2019, the Bob Ellis Fund was established in honour of the extraordinary influence Bob Ellis has had on the lives of youth and young adults in downtown west Toronto over several generations. Many of these people, years later, credit Bob with changing their lives for the better.
In recognition of Bob’s outstanding contributions to his community, a group of his admirers fundraised for a fund that to support young people.
What is the Bob Ellis Award? The Bob Ellis Award supports equity-deserving young people in their success in a post-secondary program specific to community development, social services, social work, physical education, or sports/recreation. A special emphasis is placed on young people from less-advantaged families to support equitable access to education.
How does a young person apply for the Bob Ellis Award? Two $2,500 awards will be awarded to two young people in June 2025 who meet the following criteria:
- Active participant in a West Neighbourhood House or Scadding Court Community Centre program
- Enrolled/attending a post-secondary program specific to community development, social services, social work, physical education, or sports/recreation
- Submit a personal essay up to 750 words describing:
- What is most important to you about your community?
- What are your learning priorities and career path?
- How will this award assist you?
Please also submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or community leader along with your essay.
Application deadline: Wednesday, June 17th, 2025, 5:00 pm
