Soccer Volunteer

Newcomer Youth Program is seeking a volunteer (18 years old and older) to assist in a weekly in-person soccer program. It aims to provide youth with recreational activity, informal problem solving, leadership development and promotes engagement among newcomer youth as well as between newcomer youth and volunteers.   

Volunteer Duties:

• Help youth engaged in the activity by creating a fun, team building environment
• Facilitate soccer games, drills and referee if possible
• Connect/socialize with youth during activities and foster a positive, inclusive and stimulating environment
• Help staff with planning and delivering activities, as necessary

 Skills Required:

• Must have experience in soccer
• Experience working with youth is an asset
• Ability to speak Arabic, Farsi is an asset
• Must have excellent English-speaking skills 
• Must be friendly, open, reliable, patient, non-judgmental and non-discriminating
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have cross-cultural sensitivity
• Must be committed to lead the group

Orientation & Training:

• Staff provide orientation when volunteer starts
• Staff provide on-going support  

Program Time:

• Available weekday evening(s), on Thursdays from 6:00pm-8:00pm 
• Soccer program to starts January 12th, 2023, and runs until June 15th ,2023
• Location : Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute Gymnasium (2450 Birchmount Road, Scarborough M1T 2M5)
