Violence Against Women and Children

COVID-19 update 

The women’s empowerment program is open and accepting new clients. We are providing services and counselling remotely and by phone. Call us at (416) 532-4828 or email info@westnh.org. It’s confidential and free.

The program

This program works with victims of domestic violence to improve the quality of their lives. The program respects self-determination and fosters independence. Services and support enable women to make more informed decisions and access the services they need. The team provide services in English, Portuguese, Cantonese, Mandarin and Hungarian.

Multi-service locations give participants anonymity as well as access to a variety of programs such as ESL, employment counselling, adult literacy, settlement services, children’s programs and more.

Services include:

  • Individual supportive counselling for women and children
  • Crisis intervention
  • Safety planning
  • Support groups
  • Transitional plan and goal setting
  • Translation, interpretation, accompaniment to assist women in accessing resources such as (housing, income supports, employment, training, childcare, legal information, etc.).
