Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you create the Homework Help Program?

We know that with online-only school during the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be challenging for students to get the support they need. That’s why we developed our NEW Homework Help Program, a daily virtual drop-in program that provides students from JK to Grade 7 with personalized assistance for their homework.

Who can join the Homework Help Program?

The Homework Help Program is open to all students between JK and Grade 7.

Where does the Homework Help Program take
?
The Homework Help Program takes place over Zoom. The Zoom Meeting ID is always the same: 943 8404 4658. To receive the Zoom password, please register with Tyheriah by emailing tyheriahph@westnh.org.

When is the Homework Help Program?

The Homework Help Program takes place from Monday to Friday, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. It is in a drop-in format, so students can virtually drop in any time during those hours, and stay for as long or as little as they need.

Who is leading the Homework Help Program?
The Homework Help Program is run and staffed by West Neighbourhood House’s Children’s Program team.

What kind of subjects can my children get help with?

Our Children’s Program team can provide support in all subjects, including math, science and French.

How many students will be participating?

Because the Homework Help Program operates as a drop-in, we cannot predict for certain how many students will be attending at any given time. However, we use breakout rooms on Zoom to ensure that each child receives attention and individualized support, which may be one-on-one or small groups depending on the demand.

Can my children receive homework help outside of these hours?

While we recommend joining our dedicated drop-in time from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, we know scheduling can be tough. Please email Tyheriah at tyheriahph@westnh.org with any questions, and please allow up to 24 hours for a response.

Do you still offer in-person after-school care?

As of February 16, 2021, , we are will be running our After School Program at Holy Family Catholic School. To ensure the health and safety of our children and team, we have limited the number of children attending our program. Click here to learn more
