The Meals on Wheels program at West Neighbourhood House was started in 1965 and has continued to serve the south west of Toronto for almost 50 years. Currently the program offers four types of meals (Western, Chinese, South Asian and frozen meals) to our clients year-round, 6 days-week.
Over 140 meals are delivered daily by volunteers who are essential components of this program. West Neighbourhood House depends on the generosity of volunteers to be able to provide this essential service to countless isolated seniors in our community.
In fact, for many clients who live alone and isolated, Meals on Wheels provides an alternative to institutional care. It is our goal, in co-operation with other community services and volunteers, to help clients remain independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
Our catchment area is Yonge St. to Roncesvalles Ave., Bloor St. to Lake Ontario.
A fee will be charged to the client. Subsidised fee scale is also available for those who have financial difficulties to pay. Financial assessment is required for subsidy.
